Zulu’s Frontman Faces Abuse Allegations Amidst Band Turmoil

A former partner has accused Muhammad of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse during their relationship. The allegations detail incidents of violence, including punching, kicking, and choking, leading to significant trauma for the accuser.
In response, Muhammad has categorically denied these accusations, asserting that he has never engaged in any form of physical abuse. He emphasizes that such actions are against his values and faith, stating, “Violence towards anyone, especially partners, is completely against my values, and I would never harm anyone.”
The controversy has had immediate repercussions for the band. Zulu performed at NDP Fest in São Paulo, Brazil, on March 8 without Muhammad, with guitarist Dez Yusuf stepping in on vocals. Subsequently, the band canceled the remaining dates of their Latin American tour, which included stops in Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
Former Zulu drummer Don Brown also weighed in, suggesting that these allegations influenced his departure from the band. In an Instagram story, he commented, “For everybody who asked me do I still play for Zulu, this is why I don’t.”
