Exodus Unleashes a Double Dose of Thrash Fury
Hold onto your battle vests, metalheads! The titans of thrash, Exodus, are back in the studio, not with just one, but two pulverizing new albums. Guitarist and primary riff-slinger Gary Holt recently revealed on The Chuck Shute Podcast that the band is deep into recording sessions, aiming to deliver a relentless assault of fresh material.
Holt divulged, “We’ve been in the studio for two weeks now. Tom’s wrapping up drums. We’ve set ourselves an ambitious goal on this record. We’re recording two albums right now.” He emphasized the band’s commitment to quality, stating, “We are a couple of songs shy from hitting our total goal of having two albums of crushing material. No filler.”
This audacious endeavor ensures that when it’s time to unleash the follow-up, it’s already “in the can,” eliminating any downtime between releases. Holt added, “The chances are by the time we get to that point, I’ll have new stuff that has to be included: ‘Oh, this is so good.’ But then we go into the studio for two weeks, not two months.”
The band is targeting a late winter or early spring release next year. While they initially hoped for a 2024 drop, they chose not to rush the process. Holt assures fans, “It’s gonna be worth it in the end. And the shit is fucking phenomenal.”
Exodus’s legacy in the thrash metal scene is monumental, with seminal albums like “Bonded by Blood” and “Fabulous Disaster” cementing their status. This upcoming double release promises to be a testament to their enduring ferocity and innovation.
